E-flite shaft press

Instructions for pressing the shaft through on
E-flite Power 10, 15 and 25 motors

Tools Required:
1/16" Allen Wrench
Arbor Press

Warning:
Make sure you are working in an area that is clean. You will be working with magnets. Any metallic or non-metallic debris that gets into your motor may damage it.

General Notes:
Familiarize yourself with the instructions before starting. If you are not comfortable modifying your motor, check with a friend, a local hobby shop, or with Custom RC Parts for advice.
Custom RC Parts does not use Loctite on the Set Screws. Using Loctite is up to you.
An Arbor Press can be substituted by a Shop Vice, C-Clamp or many other clever home-made presses. It is important that you minimize any impacts to the Magnet Housing.



Using the 1/16" Allen Wrench, remove the 2 #6 set screws from the Magnet Housing.

 


Using the 1/16" Allen Wrench, remove the #6 set screw from the Collar.
Remove the Collar and the Spacer.

 


Carefully separate the Magnet Housing from the Motor Body.
CAUTION: Maintain a firm grip on the Magnet Housing and the Motor Body as the magnets will be pulling the Magnet Housing toward the Motor Body.
NOTE: Not all motors have the spacer shown in this picture. Our Power 10 and 25 had the spacer while our Power 15 did not.

 


Using an Arbor Press, press the shaft through the Magnet Housing so that it is flush with the face of the boss on the Magnet Housing.

 


Ensure that the end of the Shaft is flush with the face of the boss on the Magnet Housing.

 


If you had a nylon spacer, reinstall it on the shaft. Assemble the Magnet Housing and the Motor Body.
CAUTION: Maintain a firm grip on the Magnet Housing and the Motor Body as the magnets will be pulling the Magnet Housing toward the Motor Body.

 


Install the Spacer.
Line up the tapped hole in the Collar with the flat on the Shaft then install the Collar and the #6 Set Screw.
Before tightening the Set Screw press the Collar firmly against the Spacer while holding the Magnet housing. This will reduce the axial end-play.

 


Install the 2 #6 Set Screws
